Mini Miners FAQ
New to crypto mining? Start here. Mini Miners is designed to make real, hands-on mining approachable without taking away the freedom to build, experiment and go deeper.
What is Mini Miners?
Is Mini Miners a real cryptocurrency mining project?
Yes. Mini Miners is being built as a real low-power mining network, not a simulated mining game or a collection of meaningless points. The network is currently in testnet development while we build and test the technology that will lead toward the MINI blockchain.
Who is Mini Miners for?
Both beginners and experienced miners. If you have never mined cryptocurrency before, our goal is to make your first experience simple enough to understand and enjoy. If you already know what you are doing, Mini Miners is designed to remain open enough for you to build your own hardware, flash firmware, experiment and explore the network.
Do I need to understand cryptocurrency before I start?
No. That is one of the main reasons Mini Miners exists. You can learn cryptocurrency mining by actually doing it. Your miner becomes a hands-on learning tool for understanding hashes, shares, mining difficulty, pools, wallets, rewards and proof-of-work.
Is Mini Miners just an educational toy?
No. Education is an important part of the project, but it is not a substitute for the network's economic purpose. MINI is being built for real utility and economic value. There are no guaranteed profits or guaranteed future value.
Getting a miner running
What hardware does a Mini Miner use?
Our small miners are based on inexpensive, low-power ESP32 microcontrollers. We are developing ready-to-go Mini Miner hardware for beginners while also supporting people who want to build and flash compatible ESP32 hardware themselves.
Do I have to buy a Mini Miner from you?
No. Beginner-friendly does not mean locked down. You can use a ready-to-go Mini Miner, or use supported hardware and build your own. We want the easy path and the maker path to exist on the same network.
How hard is setup on a ready-to-go miner?
The normal beginner setup is designed to avoid programming and source-code editing. Power the miner, connect to its setup page from a phone or computer, enter the required Wi-Fi and account information, and let the miner connect to the network.
How much electricity does it use?
ESP32 miners have a tiny power footprint compared with conventional cryptocurrency mining hardware. That makes them inexpensive to operate, quiet, and practical for experiments such as solar-powered or off-grid mining.
Can I mine with solar power?
Yes. Low-power hardware makes solar mining practical, although solar is completely optional. Mini Miners can also run from ordinary power.
What happens if my Wi-Fi goes down?
The firmware is being designed to recover from ordinary connection problems automatically. If a miner cannot reconnect, it can return to setup/recovery behavior so the owner can get it back online without editing firmware.
Can the firmware be updated?
Yes. Mini Miner firmware includes an over-the-air update system so supported miners can receive software improvements without customers having to manually reflash every update. Updates are designed to preserve the device's existing configuration and identity.
What is happening right now?
Is the Mini Miners network live?
The Mini Miners testnet is live now, with real ESP32 miners actively mining and submitting work. The testnet is where we develop, test and deliberately stress the system before later stages of the project.
Can I watch the testnet?
Yes. The live pool dashboard lets you watch the network and active miners in real time.
What is a mining share?
A share is proof that your miner is doing real hashing work for the pool. Shares give the server a practical way to measure each miner's contribution without waiting for the much rarer event of finding a full block.
What is mining difficulty?
Difficulty controls how hard a valid piece of mining work is to find. As you explore the dashboard and your miner's status, difficulty and accepted shares are two of the core mining concepts you will be able to see in action.
What is MiniPOW?
MiniPOW is the proof-of-work mining system being developed for Mini Miners. It is designed around low-power physical mining hardware and the MINI network. More technical information will be published as the protocol and blockchain development progress.
Will I make money mining MINI?
There are no guaranteed profits. Mini Miners is being built to create a useful, understandable mining ecosystem with real participation and economic purpose, but mining rewards, future utility and any future market value should never be treated as guaranteed income.
Where MINI is going
Will I have my own MINI wallet?
Yes. The public network is being designed around individual MINI accounts and wallet addresses so miners can be associated with their owners and rewards can be tracked to the correct account.
Does MINI have its own blockchain yet?
The project is currently on the path toward its own MINI blockchain. The present testnet and mining infrastructure let us develop and validate the mining network before moving into later blockchain stages.
Will the testnet disappear when the main network launches?
No. We plan to keep a testnet running as a permanent sandbox for development, experimentation, firmware testing and learning even as the project advances.
What will I learn by owning a Mini Miner?
The goal is much bigger than plugging in a little box. A Mini Miner gives you a physical way to learn how cryptocurrency mining actually works: connecting a miner, understanding a wallet, watching hashes and shares, seeing difficulty change, following rewards, learning about pools and proof-of-work, and eventually understanding how those pieces connect to a blockchain.
